 Iris’s Tip

The recipe yields 12 fluffy hamburger buns.

For vegans, brush with maple syrup instead of egg wash.

 Ingredients

3 1/2 cups of bread flour

1 tablespoon of sugar

1 tablespoon of dry yeast

1 1/4 cups warm water

1 teaspoon of baking powder

1/2 cup of oil

1 1/2 tablespoons of honey/maple syrup

1 teaspoon of salt

Egg for egg wash and sprinkle with sesame

 Directions

1. In your mixer bowl, combine the yeast, sugar, and only 1/2 a cup of water; allow to ferment for 5 minutes.

2. Add the rest of the ingredients: the flour, baking powder, oil, 3/4 cup water, honey and salt; mix for 10 minutes.

3. Transfer the dough to a greased bowl; coat with oil, cover with a plastic wrap and allow to rise for 30 minutes.

4. Divide the dough into 12 equal balls. Shape to bread rolls. (Watch the video.)

5. Place in a baking pan lined with parchment paper.

6. Brush with egg yolk mixed with a drop of water; sprinkle with sesame and allow to rise again for 30 to 40 minutes.

7. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit or 180 degrees Celsius and place a deep oven-safe dish/ pan at the bottom of the oven and pour boiling water into it. (This creates steam in the oven.)

8. Bake for 25 minutes.
