It starts with a desire or idea and it ends up in a joyful bite. Iris's Chickpea Bites are a great snack, appetizer, or a meal on its own!
These delicious Chickpea Bites can be made gluten-free too.

These outstanding Chickpea Bites are great baked or fried. Serve them with a salad and tahini.
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups of chickpea flour
1/2 cup of all-purpose flour / gluten-free flour
1 tablespoon of baking powder
3 chopped green onion stalks
1 finely chopped onion
1/2 to 1 finely diced red pepper
1/4 - 1/2 cup of chopped cilantro
1/4 - 1/2 cup of chopped parsley
1 can of chickpeas (washed and strained) or 2 cups of frozen chickpeas
1 egg
1 cup of water
1 teaspoon of cumin
1/4 teaspoon of turmeric
1 1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon of white pepper
1-2 teaspoons red chili flakes
Optional: finely chopped cilantro
Oil for frying
A peeled carrot for frying
Directions
1. Mix together all of the dry ingredients: the flours, baking powder, and all of the spices.
2. Add the water, egg, chickpeas, and all of the vegetables and mix.
3. Heat the oil for frying. When the oil is ready put half a carrot.
4. Using a small cookie scoop, scoop from the batter and fry in the hot oil.
If you do not have a cookie scoop, you can use two tablespoons: one tablespoon lifts the batter and the other lowers the batter into the oil. Fry the chickpea bites for about 2 minutes on each side and transfer to a dish.
5. Instead of frying, you may choose to bake the chickpea bites in a 400 degrees Fahrenheit or 200 degrees Celsius preheated oven.
6. Measure a tablespoon of the batter and with the help of another spoon, lower the batter onto a pan lined with parchment paper. Spray with olive oil spray and
