I absolutely love it when my home fills up with the amazing smell of freshly baked bread.
Here is one of my favorite quick and easy recipes! No mixer needed, no kneading needed. Just mix, proof, shape, and bake.
Iris’s Tip
Place the loaves in the oven and spritz some water on the bottom and the sides of the oven.
Ingredients
4 cups of bread/all-purpose flour
2 cups of warm water
2 teaspoons of dry yeast
1 1/2 teaspoons of salt
1 tablespoon of date syrup/sugar/honey
2 tablespoons of olive oil
Additional Flour for dusting
What else do you need?
Parchment paper
Two loaf or round baking pans
Plastic dough scraper/spatula
Plastic container with lid
You can add poppy seeds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, za'atar, garlic flakes, onion flakes, rosemary, olives, etc...
Directions
Step 1:
In a bowl, mix the warm water, yeast and date syrup/sugar/honey.
In a plastic container, place the flour and salt, and mix. Add the oil and the yeast mixture, and stir for a minute or two. (If you want to add nuts and or seeds, add them now.) The dough you will get is wet and sticky.
Close the lid, put a towel over the container, and leave it in the kitchen in a warm (not refrigerated) place for two hours.
Step 2:
Dust your work surface generously with flour. Using a spatula or dough scraper, remove the dough from the plastic container onto the floured surface.
Cut the dough to two equal pieces.
Turn each piece of dough, folding edge to edge two to three times. Rotate and fold edge to edge again to shape each loaf.
Grease two loaf baking pans; cut parchment paper to fit each pan plus more to allow the loaf to rise. Grease the parchment paper; transfer the bread into the pan. Cover the bread with a light kitchen towel and allow to rise in a warm place for an hour.
Place the loaf pans in a 400 degrees Fahrenheit or 200 degrees Celsius preheated oven, and spritz some water on the bottom and the sides of the oven. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes. Allow loaves to cool before cutting, and get the butter ready !!!!!!
